RENEE MEISNER-BOGDAHN, LCSW. I am a licensed clinical social worker with a passion for evidence-based and heart-centered work that makes a real difference in the lives of individuals that I see. Due to my specialized training and unique skill set, I am well-equipped to serve adults and adolescents struggling with symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Acute Stress Disorder, Depression, and Anxiety. In my work, I focus on short-term, solutions-focused strategies in order to hone in on what concrete changes you can enact in your life immediately; allowing you to quickly experience the benefits from the time and energy you have invested into therapy.
GETTING STARTED. Once you are ready to reach out, please contact me to schedule a free 15 minute phone consultation to briefly discuss services, and ensure that my services are well-suited to your mental health needs. If we decide to move forward, I will send you some forms to review prior to your first appointment regarding my policies and procedures, as well as state laws regarding mental health confidentiality and reporting.
YOUR FIRST SESSION. During your first session, I will ask you questions about what you hope to change by coming to therapy, your current life circumstances, and any significant life events you have experienced. This will help us to create a common understanding of your challenges, strengths, and, most importantly, goals for engaging in therapy.
YOUR CUSTOM TREATMENT PLAN. Based on your unique circumstances and preferences, I will create an individualized treatment plan that will include practical strategies to reach your goals. I will incorporate evidence-based practices tailored to your specific needs, including; Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Therapy, Solutions-Focused Brief Therapy, and Strength-Based Therapy. During subsequent sessions, we will check-in about your progress towards achieving your goals, problem solve challenges or roadblocks that may arise, and continue to lay a foundation of skills and insights that you can build upon once you are ready to continue with these positive changes on your own. I may invite you to examine your underlying beliefs, challenge negative thinking patterns, practice new coping skills, change engrained behaviors and habits, and strengthen your support system.
TOWARDS SELF-SUFFICIENCY FROM THE OUTSET. I will encourage you to experiment with new strategies outside of our sessions, so you can take charge of your mental health where it matters most: in your day-to-day life. This will allow you to gradually maintain positive changes without the consistent support of a mental health professional. Most clients I work with tend to stay in therapy anywhere from 6 weeks to 6 months before feeling ready to pause services.
ONGOING SUPPORT AS NEEDED. After pausing services, I will continue to be a resource if you need me. While some individuals only require therapy for a specific period of time in their life, others benefit from accessing therapy during multiple life stages and stressors. For example, some find it helpful to re-engage in therapy after experiencing a crisis, or finding themselves falling back into old unhelpful patterns. If this is the case, we can build upon the foundation already created in previous therapy sessions to get you back on track.
